Situated on the Shoreline of Monterey Bay, Marina Dunes Resort is a brand new (opened in January, 2000) ranch style property (1 and 2 story bldgs) featuring 60 luxurious bungalows on 19 acres of rolling sand dunes on the Pacific Ocean. Located just about 8 minutes driving time from Monterey, the resort features a very large outdoor swimming pool, an outdoor whirlpool, and an Old-West style restaurant (AJ Spurs). Their guest rooms have either a full ocean, partial ocean, and sand dunes view and also have mini refrigerators, wet bars, fireplaces, and large bathrooms with granite, slate and tile finishes. Room Decor is described as “high end ranch style - similar to the Ralph Lauren Country Stores” and they include leather furnishings. They have a massage treatment center. Note: This is officially a 3-diamond rated hotel but most locals and hoteliers consider it to be of 4-star quality. $15 additional fee charged by the hotel for Dunes Restoration.

Review: "This new looking hotel is located in Marina which is just about a 10 minutes drive from Monterey. It is really nice, quiet and peaceful since the hotel is built in a "protected" sand dunes area. They actually give you your own golf cart to drive around the hotel so that there are no cars driving around making noise. The rooms are large and all have fireplaces and one king bed. The ocean view rooms have great views and you can walk down to the Marina State Beach from any room. A great little get-a-way."
