Welcome to the Merritt House Inn

A Bygone Era Beckons...Beautifully preserved, this legendary adobe consists of three suites, all historically furnished with the elegance reminiscent of another era. The Merritt House Inn is a Boutique Hotel/Country Inn. Each suite has a separate parlor and fireplace. The suites are nestled among towering magnolia, pepper, holly and olive trees. A grand old fig, a captivating rose garden and pride-fully tended lawns make a tremendous contribution to the nostalgic atmosphere provided by this hospitable inn. In addition to the suites, the Merritt House offers twenty-two rooms, some with balconies overlooking private secluded gardens, all with fireplaces, color television, small refrigerator, coffee maker and other amenities. Also included is a sit-down continental breakfast served in the common room where guests meet and share their itineraries. High speed internet access is available in all of our rooms. Located in the heart of Monterey, The Merritt House provides close proximity to the areas most well-known attractions. Within walking distance is the Monterey Conference Center, Fisherman's Wharf, and many fine shops and restaurants. Minutes away is the world famous Monterey Bay Aquarium, Steinbeck's Cannery Row, the popular 17-Mile Drive as well as many famous art galleries. Exploring the path of history (a walking tour) might be the preferred destination. The tour includes Monterey's oldest abodes - California's first capital. The Monterey Peninsula also offers many superb and championship golf courses. Our three Suites are housed in our historic Adobe built in the 1830. Upstairs is our Honeymoon Suite: with King size bed, separate parlor area with fireplace, small refrigerator, private bath and balcony. Downstairs are our two smaller Suites: one with King size bed, separate parlor area with fireplace, small refrigerator and private bath. The other suite has a Queen size bed, separate parlor area with fireplace, small refrigerator and private bath. Our Continental Breakfast is served daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in our Common Room where you will enter through the garden door. We serve fresh muffins, croissants, a variety of cereals, teas, fresh coffee and orange juice.
